| A chain of banks wanted to increase awareness of their
new extended banking hours at the drive-through window. To do so, the
bank used a Round Stic pen by BIC. The pens were imprinted with the
message, "Is YOUR bank open when you need it? New drive-through
window hours." The bank's logo, name, address and phone number
were also included. Since there was a chain of banks involved in the
promotion, each bank location ordered the basic pen and logo, then
added their individual location and window hours to the imprint.
Tellers distributed the pens to customers both in the bank and at the
drive-through window. |

Each Saturday from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., a large
Oklahoma bank operates a creative center for the children of its
customers, supervised by local art teachers. Paint sheets are among
a variety of art options for the children, each with a series of
four seasonal designs. The name/logo of the bank are shown at the
top of each sheet, which the children are encouraged to take home
and display.

| PNC Bank wanted to tap a source of potential customers
banks rarely pursue - their own employees. To increase business in
this market segment, PNC sent 30,000 bank employees phone
cards, which could be activated with up to 20 minutes of free
time if an employee signed up for a personal loan, a bank line of
credit or a car loan. The program resulted in a win-win for everyone
involved. Employees received favorable bank rates and free long
distance calling, while PNC increased its customer base and
generated goodwill with its employees. |
