| The product used was a small digital clock shaped like a
miniature slot machine with three sevens showing. The casino's logo
and toll-free number were imprinted in gold on top. The clocks were
distributed by staff members directly, included in guest's
complimentary wine-and-fruit baskets or provided to individual meeting
planners to hand out at meetings. At least 15,000 have been
distributed over the years. The casino's director of purchasing said
that everyone who gets one likes it and that many ask for another. |

The pro shop at an exclusive country club
wanted to encourage its clientele of avid golfers to buy more of
their accessories at the shop. To do so, the shop planned a
direct-mail campaign and included a unique golf accessory to catch
their audience's attention. Along with promotional literature, the
golfers received a patented tee that, because of its design,
indicated optimal height off the ground, correct swing direction and
perfect club-face and body alignment. Made of long-lasting plastic,
the tee was small and light enough to mail, and its design provided
a large and very visible imprint space to accommodate the shop's
name, location, telephone number and message.

Handouts |
| The St. Louis Bulls baseball team was hosting a Fan
Appreciation Day at the ballpark and needed a special promotions
program for the event. It was decided that a cardboard can with metal
ends would be used for the occasion. The first 10,000 ticket holders
who entered the ballpark gates were each given a can, which was
imprinted with the team's schedule, along with the team logo and the
logo of the company co-sponsoring the event. The top of the can had a
safety peel off top so there would be no sharp edges left when the top
was removed. Inside the can was a complimentary ticket for an upcoming
game and a plastic wallet card with the team schedule on one side.
Every 1,000th can given away had inside it a season ticket coupon for
the following season. |
